Nokia N70 Review
Permalink: Nokia N70 Review by Franz Bicar
Nokia is one of the foremost mobile phone companies in the world. They had phones that were a big hit in today’s mobile society. With this, a lot of people are expecting great things from this company. That is also the case with the Nokia N70. A lot of people are expecting big things from it, but does it hold up to its name? Will it only disappoint us?
First of, the thing that is most noticeable with the N70 is its physical design. It’s a bit on the clunky side compared to all the other smaller-sized phones out in the market today. But even though it wouldn’t feel very comfortable inside your jeans pocket, its nevertheless a great phone. Despite its size, the phone’s external design is sleek and cool. It has a handsome matte finish that gives the phone that professional feel.
As for its set of features, the Nokia N70 does not disappoint. With its wide array of functions and capabilities such as its 2 megapixel camera with flash, Nokia’s very own Xpress Printing solution, music and video player, expandable memory and of course, the 3G capabilities, it will surely attract mobile fanatics out there.
There are a lot of really cool things that you can do with this phone. But after a few hours of experimenting on its features, its user-friendliness will get to you and you’ll soon be a pro when it comes to navigating the twists and turns of this phone. The multiple programmable short-cut buttons in the keypad make it a breeze in navigating around the at-first-confusing menus and interface of the N70. Going to the deeper menus and functions of the phone can be as easy as pushing a button.
Now comes the phone’s camera. Every 3G phone comes in with one. The N70’s camera is a wonder to behold. First of all, its so simple to operate as its camera can be activated by simply sliding its protective slide.
After exposing the lens, it’s time to take pictures with the different modes the phone has in its arsenal. Camera modes include Automatic Settings, User Defined, Portrait, Landscape, Night and Sports mode. You may even play around with the different white balance (daylight, cloudy, tungsten and more) and color tones (normal, black and white, sepia etc.) settings to further tweak the image you’re about to take.
The 2-megapixel camera gives you impressive images that is superior to other phones of this class. Pictures in daylight come out crisp and clear enough to print. One drawback that is noticeable however is that it doesn’t take pictures that well at night.
There are several drawbacks for this phone too. One downside of the handsome matte finish the phone has is that it’s prone to scratches. Proper care and protection should be taken when handling this phone. Second are its slow response time user clicks and commands. Third is its battery life. Understandably, a 3G phone used to its full capabilities would drain the phone’s batteries in a shorter time. Perhaps expect more with the battery life of the N70, it may only be a personal nuance but expect the N70’s battery to last longer.
Overall, the Nokia N70 is one great phone. Even though its not the best phone out there, the N70 is a handset that can hold is own when compared to other handsets available in the market.
