Zyxel launches Skype smartphone

Zyxal is launching a new converged WiFi/GPRS/GSM quad-band V660 smartphone with built-in VPN support in the UK.

The Skype phone will enable users to make and receive voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) calls, either fixed or mobile through one single device. It also provides web, and instant messaging services.

The phone includes Microsoft Windows Mobile Edition 5.0 software which provides Office functionality (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, pocket MSN and Outlook), as well as Push email.

It features a 1.9-inch display, 2.0 megapixel camera, video and MP3 player, 64mb on-board memory and a MicroSD expandable memory slot. Skype software is pre-installed for Internet calls.

The V660 smartphone is compatible with any IP telephony service and/or mobile provider and can be loaded with any Microsoft Mobile compatible software.

Users have access to free calls to Skype accounts and discounted calls to landlines.
