lg-shine1.jpgThe LG KE970, otherwise known as LG Shine, is a slider-style mobile phone, and is one of the most successful phone, manufactured by LG Electronics. The LG Shine is encased in a stunning, full-metal body and offers mobile users the best of both worlds - we are talking about style, design and functionality.

The KE970, as mentioned, is a slider form with a polished-metal exterior and stainless steel case. It sports a 2.25-inch, 240×320 pixels, screen. This is capable of displaying 256,000 colors, and doubles as a mirror when the screen is not used. It uses a scroll bar for navigation, different from the LG Chocolate.

The Shine is also a decent multimedia device. It sports a comprehensive media player with supports for music formats such as MP3, WAV and ACC++. It also acts as a camera phone with its 2 megapixel autofocus camera with Schneider-Kreuznach lens. To top it all of, the Shine let’s users store their files, music, pictures, etc. via its microSD memory card support. Other features include GPRS and EDGE network compatibility, Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

The phone’s camera is decent enough. Taking pictures outdoors might be a bit of a challenge as it is a bit difficult to see the screen in bright daylight. This causes images to be a bit overexposed.

The camera shoots in a maximum 1600×1200-pixel resolution and is accompanied by a redundant LED light that’s too crude to really illuminate any low light environment.

You can take photos in a selection of resolutions, from full two megapixels (1,600×1,200 pixels) down to VGA and below (320×240 pixels). Other camera features include a self-timer, three quality modes, four color effects, an adjustable white-balance setting, a choice of shutter sounds, and a multi-shot mode.

As for its photo quality, the images produced by the KE970 is passable. It eluded sharp colors, distinct object outlines, and vivid detail. The colors are accurate thanks to the great auto white balance. Pictures are not the cleanest in terms of digital noise, but the not so good part is the jagged appearance when viewed full size, possibly due to excessive image sharpening.

Video quality is also good but not great. Clips are not as grainy when compared to other phones, but, it is still lacking.
