Motorola Razr2 V9 Phone

Permalink: Motorola Razr2 V9 Phone

motorazr2.jpgAs far as I know, Motorola has been stumped in looking for a successor to its successful Razr line. I’m not saying that the Razr is a bad phone, but rather, it gets boring. As the battle for mobile phone supremacy continues, phone manufacturers have evolved and has produced several different models.

Motorola on the other hand has stuck to its Razr model and from the looks of things, hasn’t given up on it. Motorola has come out with its next generation Razr, dubbed as the Razr2. The Razr2 is equipped with a wide array of features including a 2-megapixel camera and full Bluetooth support. But really, Motorola is known not for their features, but for the design and style of most of their handsets. The Razr2 is a testament to this truth.

The Razr2 is fitted with a brand new chassis made of steel and hardened glass. It sports a gorgeous external screen with touch screen buttons on the bottom row. Personally, these elements make the difference for the Razr2 V9 when compared to preceding Razr models. It is also significantly wider, with a measurement of 2 inches wide, 4 inches long, and 0.5 inch deep. The overall feel is quite luxurious, thanks to its extra heft and sturdy construction. The hinge appears to be a solid piece of steel, adding to the feeling of durability.

Aside from the stylish designs of the Razr2, what will catch user’s attention next would have to be the Razr’s external screen. Measuring about 2 inches diagonally, the display is simply stunning, and provides the phone with a distinct look that sets it apart from the other Razrs. But, with glass, you will have smudges, and that is one of the drawbacks to this otherwise stunning piece of art.

A cool thing that is worth mentioning is the touch-screen portion located at the bottom. Whenever the music player is running, three keys show up. These are the rewind, pause/play and the fast forward keys. What’s interesting with this design is that whenever you press either of these keys, it produces a vibrating feedback that let’s users think that they are tapping a physical button.

Other features for this phone include a volume control and smart key on the left portion while a camera key is located on the right side. On top of the external screen is the camera lens, while the microSD card slot is located behind the battery cover.

When it comes to features, the Razr2 is a bit similar to other previous Razrs. Basically you have a 1,000-entry phone book that allows users to store six different numbers and two email adresses. You can pair this with the built-in 15 polyphonic ringtones or use mp3s. The phone also sports text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, a voice recorder, voice command and dialing, instant messaging, e-mail, a wireless Web browser, and full-featured Bluetooth. The Razr2 V9 supports Bluetooth file transfer, plus stereo Bluetooth as well.

As a phone, the Razr2 V9 is one of the fastest GSM Razrs out there. It can support download speeds of up to 1.8Mbps. Its music player supports MP3s, AACs, and WMA formats, plus has a repeat and shuffle mode, a spatial audio setting, and a bass boost setting.

Now we go to the phones camera. The Razr2 only has a 2-megapixel camera and takes pictures in four resolutions and three quality settings. other settings include elf -timer, a free-memory space indicator, five shutter sounds with a silent option, six lighting options, seven color styles, five exposure settings, and up to 8x zoom. Its camera is probably not its best feature, but it still tries though. Even though there is no flash, the phone comes in with a night mode for better lowlight shots.
Picture quality is ok; images are nice and sharp, with accurate lighting. There’s also a built-in camcorder with three video quality settings, two video lengths and similar settings to the still camera. There is also a Micro SD slot to store all you videos and pictures.

As mentioned earlier, Motorola hasn’t quite gotten over the innovative hump. Their still trying to breathe some life into the Razr models and so far, results have not been very positive. However, the Razr2 is an impressive work of art, stylish and cool. It’s feature set may not be as up to date as other phones in the market but there’s nothing wrong with looking good.
