Nokia has added the E51 to its E-series of smartphones. The new model is designed with corporate users in mind and features both mobile internet access and Wi-Fi. In addition, the E51 supports Quad-band GSM/EDGE and 3.6 Mbps HSDPA networks.
The device is designed to integrate securely with office PBX systems. It includes a 2-megapixel camera to capture both photos and video, FM radio and Nokia browser.
The E51 is compatible with voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) broadband applications such as Gizmo. A Nokia application to download Gizmo is included on the phone.
The candy-bar device is just 12mm thick and features a stainless steel housing. It includes a dedicated calendar and email keys.
It can integrate with a range of business e-mail programmes, including Nokia Intellisync Wireless E-mail and Mail for Exchange to communicate with Microsoft Exchange Server. e-mail management is simplified with a window on the home screen to preview the latest e-mail.
The E51 strengthens Nokia’s corporate smartphone range in preparation for an expected increase in mobile works. By 2009 the company expects 880 million mobile workers to be using either cell phones or laptops.
The Nokia E51 will be available globally by the end of the year, priced at around £243.
