Samsung SGH-730i i-mode slider comes to Europe

Samsung is planning to launch the i-mode compatible SGH-730i slider phone in Europe.

There are rumours that the phone will initially be launched in France and Italy with other European countries expected to follow shortly.

The SGH-730i is a tri-band GSM handset with a 262k colour TFT display. It has a 2-megapixel camera and 80MB of internal memory which can be expanded via a microSD memory card slot.

It seems ironic that Samsung announced the launch shortly after O2 revealed plans to scrap its i-mode mobile internet service in the UK, due to low demand and a shortage of attractive handsets.

Despite investing £10m, the service has just 260,000 active users in the UK, although it has done well in Ireland where it will continue to be available.
