MobiTV has launched a new package of Optimised Delivery Server (ODS) features in Europe.
ODS is a secure and scalable method of distributing media content including live broadcasts, VOD, as well as many types of downloadable media.
The system can be accessed by either broadband or wireless systems.
MobiTV is now actively seeking to enter into licensed partnership arrangements with companies across Europe.
MobiTV has already made partnerships that link over 4 million subscribers across the world to their system.
The company believe that the potential growth of ODS is very substantial.
Strategy Analytics research agrees, showing that worldwide the market will move from $32 billion per year up to $64 billion, a 1005 increase in just the next three years.
MobiTV’s ODS is compliant with RTP/RTSP and 3GPP and is capable of combining unicast and multicast distribution.
This allows for higher quality video as well as lowering the demand on backhaul.
The company says the new licensees can start out on a smaller scale with just one cluster and then take on additional clusters at the network edges as the need arises.
The architecture of their system is very scalable and will enable an interactivity layer that can be made to include highly targeted advertising.
