Polaroid has renamed its Zink inkless mobile printer and announced a May launch date for the device in the UK.
The Zink printer is now called the Polaroid PoGo as in “Polaroid to Go”. It will sell for £99 in the UK.
The device can print 2 x 3 inch colour photos in just 60 seconds, from a mobile phone via Bluetooth, or from a digital camera via PictBridge, without the need for a computer.
The PoGo printer measures 0.93 x 2.83 x 4.72 inches and uses a thermal printing technique which does not require ink.
It requires Polaroid’s specially designed paper, which costs £3 for 10 sheets, and will be available in pink and orange in time Christmas 2008. The paper has a sticky back, for attaching the photos to any surface.
A lithium-ion battery is included with the printer, which needs re-charging after printing 15 images.
