Sony Ericsson X1 runs on Windows
Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Ltd revealed its first ever Windows Mobile phone at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona.

The X1, which is part of Sony Ericsson’s new Xperia brand, runs on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software, giving Microsoft a stronger presence in the Symbian dominated handset software market.

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, a joint venture between Ericsson AB and Sony Corporation, also revealed new multimedia handsets in Barcelona.

The company introduced the W980 Walkman phone, which can store up to 8,000 songs. The phone features a transmitter which allows music to be shared on car stereos.

It also launched the Cybershot C702 camera phone, which is splash- and dust-resistant; and the C902 camera phone which has a 5-megapixel camera and can store up to 100 full-size photos.

Most of the handsets should be available in the second half of 2008. Pricing details have not yet been released.
