Alltel Wireless, the wireless network operator, has started offering the AX245 Bluetooth camera phone from LG Electronics, Inc. Alltel is the first carrier to make the handset available to customers.

The handset, which features a sleek, clamshell design, includes hands-free Bluetooth technology, a VGA camera with flash, Axcess Web capability and Axcess picture messaging. It also includes a built-in speakerphone, voice-activated dialing and BREW client 3.1.4. It is equipped to receive software updates and programming wirelessly ‘over the air,’ reducing the need for maintenance-related store visits.

The AX245 is available from Alltel for $59.99 after a $60 mail-in rebate. This is a discounted price available to new customers on two-year service agreements. It is also available to existing eligible customers on qualifying rate plans.
