Palm Treo 500v available on Vodafone in October

Palm Europe has announced the availability of its latest smartphone, the Palm Treo 500v, on the Vodafone network in October.

The Windows Mobile 6 phone is available in Glacier White and Charcoal Grey. It boasts 3G / UMTS data and has a 2-megapixel camera with 2.5x digital zoom, 256MB of onboard memory (150MB for user storage), a microSD slot and Bluetooth 2.0.

The phone comes with Windows Mobile Applications and has a full keyboard, and a big, transflective colour screen, for messaging, IM, email, browsing the web and viewing Office documents. Unfortunately it isn’t an HSDPA device, so no fast downloads.

The screen has a full 320 x 240 resolution, an improvement on other Windows Mobile Palm devices, but it can display only 65,536 colours. It also features a radio and supports mono and stereo headsets.

The new device measures 11 x 6.2 x 1.7cm and weighs 120g including battery. It will be available free on contract but further pricing details haven’t been revealed.
