Printers for phone pics unveiled at CES
Polaroid has introduced a portable printer which allows camera phone users to take a photograph and print it without the need for a computer. The printer will also connect to a digital camera.

The inkless printer uses thermal printing technology and special paper. It takes less than a minute to print 2-inch-by-3-inch prints pictures. Polaroid plans to market the printer in America later this year for around $150.

Canadian company, Planon Systems Solutions, also demonstrated a mobile printer at the show - the Printstik. Printstik is larger than Polaroid’s device and is targeted at the business market.

Printstik connects to a smartphone via a USB cable or Bluetooth, and prints 8-by-11-inch photographs in black and white only.

It synchronises with a laptop, PDA, and mobile phone to transfer images and documents.

Printstik retails for $299.00 and is available now at www.planon.com.
