Nokia N95 5-Megapixel Camera Phone Released

Nokia has released a commercial for the 5-Megapixel N95 camera phone which was announced in September 2006.

The device is a multimedia computer with a 2-way slide design. It includes GPS functionality and support for high-speed mobile networks.

The Nokia N95, which fits easily into a pocket, is powerful enough to replace stand-alone devices such as music players, digital cameras, PDAs and navigation devices.

The innovative 2-way slide feature means that switching between different modes is simple. A numeric keypad slides out from one end of the device and media keys slide out from the opposite direction, converting the display into full screen landscape mode. The user-interface uses powerful 3D graphics which make it easy to find features and services.

The GPS feature provides maps for over 100 countries, enabling users to find specific routes or locate services. Over 15 million points of interest are covered and the software can be upgraded with additional features such as city guides and voice guided navigation.

The 5 megapixel camera uses Carl Zeiss optics capable of producing print quality photos and DVD-like quality video clips. The device includes a TV out feature and supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) technology.

The Nokia N95 is designed for High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) networks and includes support for WLAN, EDGE and WCDMA networks. In HSDPA networks, browsing the internet, reading email, streaming video and downloading large files can be carried out up to 10 times faster than with 3G.

Other features include a 2.6″ QVGA 16 million color display, 3D graphics, built-in stereo speakers, standard 3.5 mm audio jack, support for compatible microSD cards and mini USB for data transfer. Users can browse the internet using the Nokia Web Browser with Mini Map.

The device is based on S60 software on Symbian OS and can be personalised by downloading a wide choice of compatible applications, including games, entertainment and navigation software.
