Motorola Moto Z8 Review
Permalink: Motorola Moto Z8 Review by Franz Bicar
Motorola is one of the foremost manufacturers of cool and stylish handsets. Users will see a wide range of material used in the production of their mobile phones. They have come up with a wide array of styles for their products, like single sliders, double sliders, swivel, clamshell, flip and candy bar models.
The Motorola Moto Z8 is a versatile slider cell phone with high quality monitor and numerous functions.
The Z8 can be described as an outstanding phone. Although not perfect, it still gives that x-factor that makes it special. The Z8 is simple, it does not contain special colors or buttons but still, the phone bends slightly when you slide it open. The curve is very pleasant when you call with the Moto Z8. And also when writing an SMS or MMS message.
Furthermore, the Motorola Z8 is equipped with various buttons that enhance the ease and speed of operating the phone. The front contains a home button that navigates you back to the home screen from anywhere you are in the menu. An up and down buttonis also provided to ease navigation. The same button can be used to adjust the volume. On the right hand side is the camera button which also activates the camera with just a push.
The Z8’s digital camera is not really that great. It comes in with an integrated 2-megapixel fixed focus camera. Located at the back of the handset, it can be used even when the handset is closed. It comes equipped with an 8X digital zoom. You might be amazed with the number, but don’t be fooled, with digital zoom, pictures decreases in quality. There is also a self-timer that can be used o stop blur from movements on the pictures.
The Z8 is quite alright. In fact, with normal mode, you can take pictures easily. But it is impossible to take fast moving objects in normal mode. When you select sports mode, the release lag improves. Still it is difficult to capture a moving object even in this mode. Storing a picture takes quite a while and makes sequential shooting impossible.
Even with this drawbacks, the phone does give several settings that you can play around to change your picture quality. The Motorola Moto Z8 offers picture quality settings, white balance, and a self-timer.
If your planning to use the phone heavily, then you can do so as the phone offers a microSD slot that can improve memory capacity. A choice from different capacities and speeds cards is offered.
The Z8 features a 2.2-inch, sixteen million colour screen. The colours are clearly reproduced on the LCD monitor of the Motorola Moto Z8. When playing a movie, the quality is fine and the images can be followed well even in fast moments. Large differences in contrast may cause problems at times. The dark areas seem to be of a dissimilar colour on the monitor when large differences in contrast are occurring.
Music and movies can be played with the multimedia player. Songs and movies can be stored in play lists which makes it easy to find them again providing you organized your files in a logical way. The operation of the multimedia player is easy and intuitive. Clear indications tell you which button you have to use for a certain function. The sound quality of the standard Motorola headset is fine; bass as well as high tones sound natural.
All in all, the Z8 is definitely not the best phone in the market. But it does provide features that would interest normal users. It has a great design, and looks great and is a definite move in the right direction for a company that, since the success of the Razr Z3, has remained relatively conservative with its designs.
